Tennis is a sport characterized by repeated bursts of speed, rapid changes in direction, and powerful movements. The key building blocks to achieveing these characteristics include fast effortless footwork, full court agility, speed and power behind shots, and maintaining mental composure. "Tennis Specific" training maximizes each of these building blocks so you can compete at your highest level.

This is a 12 week program meeting Wednesdays from 4pm-5pm and Fridays from 4:30pm-5:30pm.

Kovacs Workshop

Dr. Mark Kovacs visited Tennis Addiction on Wednesday, November 30th for a one day workshop on Tennis Strength and Conditioning. Kovacs wrote the book on the subject for the USTA and remains the foremost presenter of the material. We are deeply indebted to him for squeezing us into his schedule and look forward to another visit. In the meantime he is helping us write individual workout plans for all of our students. This allows TA to put even more distance between them and other clubs when it comes to Junior Training Excellence!

Anthony's dream of having simply the best Junior Tennis Academy on the East Coast is one step closer to fruition as David DiLucia decides to join TA! They share a similar philosophy and passion for developing juniors not only as tennis players but as individuals. The new academy launches on December 4th but Dave is conducting coaches' workshops and both Anthony and Dave are inviting parents out to watch them in action!

Rachel Glikes lost a close match at 1st Singles, Kelley Weaver won an epic match at 2nd Singles 7-5 in the third set, Rachel Simmons won 6-1, 6-0, Cassie Yatcilla and Caroline Hall played their best match of the Season winning 6-2, 7-5, and Sandhya and Haley won 6-4, 6-2!! Fourty-two High School Players attended the tennis Camp this past week at Downingtown East. Tennis Addiction's entire staff ran the instructional piece from 5-8pm every evening. Jenni Brozena, the strength and conditioning coach of West Chester University's Men's and Women's Tennis Teams ran agility and footwork drills and took the kids through Visualization and Yoga exercises. Tournament winners include: KELLEY WEAVER, AUSTIN WARREN, THANH TROUG AND SADIQ SHAIK. Congratulations!

Over 75 juniors and parents attended the 1st annual Summer Academy Open House! Lasorda's restaurant provided the gourmet pizzas and sandwiches and Denise the Clown did face paintings! The TA Pro Staff gave a free clinic and the juniors "shot for prizes" like t-shirts, overgrips and hats! Look for our feature article in Chester County Life's July/August issue and experience TA firsthand by coming to our Summer Camp which starts tomorrow at 9am and runs 11 weeks. Tennis Addiction was recently voted "Best Summer Tennis Camp" in Chester County by Chester County Living Magazine and will be featured in the June/July issue of Chester County Life Magazine. The article details Tennis Addiction's 10 and under tennis program. Tennis Addiction's 12 and under junior team won their local league and will compete in the Philadelphia area district championships this Summer. Also, Tennis Addiction will host the 20th annual Camphill Pro/Am to benefit Camphill Special School in Glemoore, PA. Last years event raised over $150,000. The tournament will be held on Saturday, June 4th with a dinner/dance on Friday, June 3rd. The event is open to the public. Stay tuned for more info!!

Rich Yoegel has donated 3 Atomic Clocks to TA in an effort to be sure he gets on his court at the right time! We put one in the lobby and 2 on the court and they are synchronized and accurate! Notice the clock in the background.... Btw, even though it is Halloween, this is not Rich's costume!

TA "A" Team Wins Junior League Championship

Tennis Addiction's 12-under Junior Team won the Chester County Fall League Championship by scoring 201 out of a possible 236 games, and winning 31 out of 36 sets. Congratulations to Aantorik, Luc, Aidan, Andre, Holden, Alexis, Deanna, Julia, Nicole, and Isabel!!! The team will advance to Sectional Championships in July 2011.

Tennis Addiction's Michael Dickson Wins Sectional Tournament

Michael Dickson won a Sectional ranked Tournament at Hopewell tennis Club in Pennington, NJ this past weekend. He was Seeded #2 and beat the top seed 6-7, 7-6, 10-2 in a Super Tiebreaker. His Coach is Wasyl Manko. Congratulations, Michael and Wasyl!!

QuickStart MatchPlay began at TA on October 17th with Brian Galligan playing Leo Guillen and Laura Lewis playing Tally Levine. QuickStart is directed by Cookie Maranella, USPTA and uses modified balls and a smaller court. Good Luck to all participants!!
