TA Turtles Still in Contention at National WTT

The TA Turtles won 2 matches today and are in second place going into the final day of the National WTT 4.5 Champioships!!! Never say die!

New Atomic Clocks at TA

Rich Yoegel has donated 3 Atomic Clocks to TA in an effort to be sure he gets on his court at the right time! We put one in the lobby and 2 on the court and they are synchronized and accurate! Notice the clock in the background.... Btw, even though it is Halloween, this is not Rich's costume!

Cougar Team Banquet

The Downingtown Girl's Tennis Team celebrated an 11-2 season last night at their annual banquet. Congratualtions to Gwen Carpenter and the team!

TA "A" Team Wins Junior League Championship

Tennis Addiction's 12-under Junior Team won the Chester County Fall League Championship by scoring 201 out of a possible 236 games, and winning 31 out of 36 sets. Congratulations to Aantorik, Luc, Aidan, Andre, Holden, Alexis, Deanna, Julia, Nicole, and Isabel!!! The team will advance to Sectional Championships in July 2011.

Tennis Addiction's Michael Dickson Wins Sectional Tournament

Michael Dickson won a Sectional ranked Tournament at Hopewell tennis Club in Pennington, NJ this past weekend. He was Seeded #2 and beat the top seed 6-7, 7-6, 10-2 in a Super Tiebreaker. His Coach is Wasyl Manko. Congratulations, Michael and Wasyl!!

QuickStart MatchPlay

QuickStart MatchPlay began at TA on October 17th with Brian Galligan playing Leo Guillen and Laura Lewis playing Tally Levine. QuickStart is directed by Cookie Maranella, USPTA and uses modified balls and a smaller court. Good Luck to all participants!!

TA Turtles Advance to WTT National Championships

The Tennis Addiction Turtles won the National Qualifier Tournament in East Hempfield on October 1st, 2nd and 3rd to advance to Palm Springs, CA to play in the WTT National 4.5 Championships. Players participating include Capatain Cindy, Joe, Jimmy, Tania, Crystal and Anthony. Congratulations!!!

New Fall Group Fitness Schedule

Our new fall group fitness schedule is to start October 1. Please stop by and try a class. We have great instructors that are so good at making fitness fun and motivating. A group fitness class is a great way to exercise with friends and it makes the time go by so much faster. You will be on own your way home before you know it, and better yet, you just did something great for your mind and body. I challenge you to Try it out!!!

Biggest Loser Season 2 Contest

GET FIT AND FOCUSED ON YOU!!!

We had such a great response from our Season 1 Contest we decided to bring it back this fall. If you need to take off a few extra pounds before the holiday's or if you want to jump start your fitness rountine this is a great program for you. We have opened this season's contest to couples, this does not mean that you need to sign up as a couple, but if you do the second person can receive a discount. We will also offer a discount to particpants that competed last season. WooHoo! The thought behind this is, that it is always more fun and motivating if you have a friend to workout and get healthy with.

The official Weigh-In is Monday, October 25 at 7:30pm at the club.

NEW AT TENNIS ADDICTION

We are in the process of repairing the roof from the damage done this past winter. You may hear people walking on the roof as you play but by next week there won't be any more leaks when it rains. We are also cutting down all of the trees which should solve the problem of squirrels moving into our building this winter. Next we are replacing all of our bulbs with LED lights as we continue to go "green". This fall we are replacing all of the lights in the common area and locker rooms. After that we start to work on the tennis courts. We'll test one court and if the lighting is as good or better we will replace all of the bulbs.
This year we are adding 4 new pros to our staff: Karin Kochis, a 5.0 player who will be working with the Elite Juniors and the Del-Tri team practices, Crystal Summers, a 4.5 player from California who will be working with our juniors and women's teams, Jeremy Speicher, Head pro at White Manor CC, who will be working with our Advanced juniors and teaching his own students, and Justin Poletti, Head Pro at Chester Valley CC, who will be working with our Elite and High School players and teaching some private lessons. We are coming off of our most successful Summer Academy in 10 years and our new Elite and Junior Elite program has allowed us to develop some of the better players in Chester County. We now have Junior teams in the Summer, Fall, Winter, and 2 teams in the Spring along with MatchPlay and ongoing clinics. Our QuickStart program is bigger than ever and we have have a staff of 12 USPTA and PTR certified pros to better service our members. We will be presenting our style of teaching at the USPTA Workshop in February at East Hempfield Sports Complex and we continue to educate our staff on the newest philosophies and techniques.
We now have a massage studio with AndiBeth Sutcliffe at the club and TRX training with Laura Winters. We still have a full fitness class schedule including Pilates, Yoga and BodyPump. New this fall is a Martial arts program on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings. All the info can be found on our new interactive website along with videos of tennis lessons and training sessions. Or you can come visit us or call and talk to our Front Desk Staff. We have a new line of the ultra popular Babolat Tennis Racquets that our members can Demo. The US Open Champions Rafa Nadal and Kim Clijsters both use Babolat and we have the full line along with the latest racquets from Head, Wilson and Prince. We string and customize on a daily basis and our staff of 3 stringers can help with educating you on the newest strings and grips.

TA and Wandering Wishes

Tennis Addiction and Wandering Wishes partnered to give a free clinic to 9 deserving teenage girls. Taren Turocy, founder of Wandering Wishes and Anthony DeCecco of TA ran the clinic on Tuesday, August 24th. Participating players included: Tori, Mimi, Kienna, Jasmine, Alyssa, Alana, Sarah, Ashley and Diamond. Everyone had a great time!!

2010 Courtney Foos Friends Tournament

On Wednesday, August 11th, the 12th Annual Courtney Foos Friends Tournament was held at Tennis Addiction. For the first time in 5 years Courtney and Anthony were not in the money! This year Mike Simonetti and Frank Englund beat Mike Abandond and Dave Himes in the final. 2010 saw a record 18 players participating including Carl Nessen, Steve Pieretti, Newt Meade, Joe Carter, Jim Klein, Fred Hoey, Gordon Nichol, Herb Bascome, Charlie Freeman, Marie Thomas, and last but not least Celes Panichelli and Cindy Basile! Congratulations to the winners and thanks to everyone who played!

Scott Nichol Workshop

On Tuesday, 12 pros from TA attended a "Scott Nichol" Workshop on High Performance Coaching. Our philosophy is to continually educate our staff in order to provide the best service and use the newest teaching techniques to ultimately offer the highest quality product to our members! Scott is a former #1 MSTA player who competed on the pro tour and was in the top 100 players in the world. Our goal is to provide your children with a tennis education as well as being role models for hard work and enjoying the game!! Let us know how we are doing!

New Pro Staff at TA

In an effort to upgrade our Pro Staff, we've added 3 new members to our team: Karin Kochis, Crystal Summers and Jeremy Speicher. All come highly touted... Karin is a former Number 1 player from Denmark and shows expertise teaching both Adults and Juniors. She will be workng with our Elite students and our Del-Tri teams. Crystal moved here from California where she gained experience running a club. She is engaged to be married and the juniors love her. Jeremy is the Tennis Director at White Manor Country Club and will be an integral part of our Junior Program as well as bringing in his own students. Wasyl, Matt, Celes, Cookie, Mike, Marie, Tammy, Jeff and Jared remain important members of our team and continuing education keeps them on the cutting edge. In short, TA has a pro for everyone and sometimes more than one! Come meet our staff in person and get the "Tennis Addiction" experience!!

TA Pirates Win WTT

Ron Siggs' TA Pirates won the 4.0 WTT Tennis Tournament at TA this past weekend and earned the right to play in a National Qualifying Event!! Congratulations!

Kypers Snypers (4.5), and Arc Light (3.5) won the right to play in a National Qualifying Tournament for WTT. Marie Thomas and Rob Attman are the winning captains and Marie doubled as the Tournament Director. Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all of the people who played and helped make it a success, especially Renee and Melei Konell!!
